Medical Weight Loss

Does a weight-loss plateau mean my medication stopped working?

Not necessarily. Sometimes the first step is to give the trend a little time. Short pauses can happen even when you're following the plan consistently. A pause in weight loss and a loss of appetite benefit are different things.

What matters most

  • The trend, not just one weigh-in.
  • Whether hunger has returned or appetite still feels controlled.
  • Changes in health, medicines, routines or side effects.
  • Whether the goal is further weight loss or maintaining progress.

At MedFIT, follow-up helps us check whether treatment is still doing a useful job. Oral medications and GLP-1 treatment both need that individual review.

A plateau does not automatically mean the dose should increase or treatment should change. There is no single waiting period that fits everyone.

Next: Bring your weight trend and appetite changes to your next treatment review.
