If my screening test was normal, can I ignore a new symptom?

No. Screening checks for certain problems before symptoms appear. A new symptom may need a different evaluation, even if a previous screening result was normal. No screening test answers every health question. National Cancer Institute.

The useful details are what changed, when it started and whether it is continuing or worsening. A past result is part of that discussion, not a reason to dismiss the concern.
